Abhanga 3234
When everything else fails, only one true friend truly shows up, and what the heart really craves is deep soul-nourishment, not material comfort.
The verse
आणीक म्यां कोणा यावें काकुळती । कोण कामा येती अंतकाळीं ॥१॥
तूं वो माझी सखी होसी पांडुरंगे । लवकरी ये गे वाट पाहें ॥ध्रु.॥
काया वाचा मनें हें चि काम करीं । पाउलें गोजिरीं चिंतीतसें ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे माझी पुरवीं हे आस । घालीं ब्रम्हरस भोजन हें ॥३॥
Literal translation
To-whom-else-go-begging? Who-comes-at-anta-kāḷa? You-my-sakhī Pāṇḍurange; come-quickly, I-watch-path. Kāyā-vāchā-mana doing-this-work; gōjirī-feet I-meditate. Tukā: fulfill-āśa; give-brahma-rasa-bhōjana.

A 3-verse petition with feminine-Pāṇḍurange addressed as sakhī. Brahma-rasa as-the-meal.
For someone today
When everything else fails, Tukaram asks, who else is really there to turn to? Only this one friend shows up when it truly counts, at the very end. He commits his whole self, body, voice, and mind, to keeping that friend in his thoughts, watching eagerly for their arrival like someone waiting on a road. What he's really asking for isn't material comfort but a soul-deep nourishment, a spiritual sustenance no ordinary meal could give.
मराठी: सगळं काही अपयशी ठरतं तेव्हा, तुकाराम विचारतात, खरंच वळायला कोण उरतं? खरा क्षण येतो तेव्हा फक्त हाच एक मित्र सोबत असतो, शेवटच्या वेळी. ते आपलं संपूर्ण अस्तित्व, शरीर, वाणी आणि मन, त्या मित्राच्या स्मरणात अर्पण करतात, वाटेवर वाट पाहणाऱ्यासारखे आतुरतेने त्यांच्या येण्याची वाट पाहतात. त्यांना खरं तर भौतिक सुख नको आहे, तर आत्म्याला खोलवर पोषण देणारं, कोणत्याही सामान्य जेवणाने न मिळणारं आध्यात्मिक अन्न हवं आहे.
