Literal translation
Baby-doesn't-know-mother's-avasthā — all-chintā-hers. Mutual-relation — like-bhōpaḷā-tied-to-dagaḍa. Bhujanga-embraces-chandana — cools, but-sanga-doesn't-become-like. Tukā: do-as-pāris — keep-me-on-par-with-iron.
What it means
A 3-verse multi-image text. The bhujanga (snake) wraps around chandana and gets cooled but doesn't become chandana. Tukā's closing prayer: do-as-pāris with me, since pāris turns iron itself into gold by mere touch — make me at-least-iron, even if-not-gold.
For someone today
Tukārām: touch-me-as-pāris, change-my-substance.
Where this applies
- Tukārām's do-as-pāris; bhujanga-chandana canonical
- Companion to other pāris-iron-gold images (3291, 3322)
