Do not let careless comparisons or gossip stand; defend the truth that the one you love lacks nothing and deserves no blame.
The verse
नव्हेसी तूं लांसी । मायां आणिकां त्या ऐसी ॥१॥
जे हे वांयां जाती बोल । होती निर्फळ चि फोल ॥ध्रु.॥
नव्हेसी दुबळी । कांहीं नाहीं तें जवळी ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे खोटी । कांहीं नव्हेसी करंटी ॥३॥
Literal translation
Not-lāmsi — like-other-māyās. Vain-words — fruitless-hollow. Not-dubaḷī — nothing-not-near. Tukā: not-khōṭī — not-karaṇṭā.
What it means
A 3-verse vindicate-the-mother text. You're not mean like other māyās; vain-words go hollow; you're not weak — everything is near you; not false, not unfortunate.
For someone today
Tukaram defends the divine mother, insisting she is nothing like other petty or stingy mothers people might compare her to. Whatever careless words are spoken against her turn out empty and fruitless, because they never touch the truth. She lacks nothing, he says, since everything she could need is already close to her. He closes firmly: she is neither false nor cursed with misfortune, whatever rumor might claim.
मराठी: तू इतर आयांसारखी हलक्या दर्जाची नाहीस, असे तुकाराम स्पष्ट सांगतात. उगाच बोललेले शब्द शेवटी पोकळ आणि निष्फळ ठरतात असे ते म्हणतात. तू दुबळी नाहीस, कारण जे काही हवे ते सगळे तुझ्याजवळच आहे. शेवटी तुकाराम ठामपणे सांगतात, तू खोटी नाहीस आणि करंटीही नाहीस, कोणी काहीही म्हटले तरी.
