Abhanga 3619
Real truth and real renunciation are the same thing, and a heart free of stain is where God's presence quietly lives.
The verse
सत्य त्यागा चि समान । नलगे वेचावें वचन ॥१॥
नारायणा ऐसे दास । येरयेरांची च आस ॥ध्रु.॥
मळ नाहीं चित्ता । तेथें देवाची च सत्ता ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे जाण । तें च भल्याचें वचन ॥३॥
Literal translation
Satya-samāna-with-tyāga — no-need-to-spend-vachana. Nārāyaṇa's-dāsas — āsa-for-each-other. No-maḷa-in-chitta — Deva's-sattā-there. Tukā: know — bhalā's-vachana.
What it means
A 3-verse text. Truth is equal to renunciation — no need to spend words. Nārāyaṇa's servants long for each-other. Where there's no stain in chitta, there is Deva's authority. Know — that itself is the good-person's word.
For someone today
Tukaram says truthfulness and true renunciation are really the same thing, and once you live it, you do not need to argue about it in words. People who genuinely serve God long for each other's company, not for status or attention. And wherever a person's heart is free of stain, God's presence is simply there, already at work. That, he says, is the entire teaching of a good person, nothing more needs to be said.
मराठी: तुकाराम म्हणतात की सत्य आणि खरा त्याग हे मुळात एकच आहेत, आणि ते जगायला लागल्यावर त्याबद्दल शब्दांत वाद घालावा लागत नाही. जे खऱ्या अर्थाने देवाची सेवा करतात, ते एकमेकांच्या सहवासाची ओढ बाळगतात, प्रतिष्ठेची किंवा लक्ष वेधण्याची नाही. आणि ज्याचे मन निर्मळ असते, तिथे देवाचे अस्तित्व आपोआप असते. हीच, ते म्हणतात, चांगल्या माणसाची संपूर्ण शिकवण आहे, यापेक्षा जास्त सांगण्याची गरज नाही.
