Abhanga 4441
Tukārām describes the simple, overwhelming joy of seeing God's form, a joy so full that words cannot capture it, he can only ask what he could possibly say to express it. He credits this moment to merit built up across many lifetimes, which finally lets his heart settle and rest at God's feet. He adds that whatever formal spiritual practice or yoga someone pursues, its real point is simply keeping your attention fixed on the divine. In the end, he doesn't call for more discipline or striving, he invites fellow devotees to just sing, sweetly and together, the songs of Hari.
The verse
Literal translation
Seeing-rūpa — jīva-sukha. Can't-speak — Nārāyaṇa. Janma-sukrta — chitta-at-feet. If-yoga — your-nija-dhyāsa. Tukā: bhakta — sing-Hari-gīta-sweet.
What it means
A 4-verse darśana-yearning text. Seeing your form, Deva, joy has come to my soul. This — speech cannot speak — what shall I say, Nārāyaṇa? Merit of births-on-births brings my heart to rest at your feet. If there be yoga-practice — then own-attention is on you. Tukā says: bhakta — let's sweetly sing Hari's song.

Where this applies
- When you experience a moment of pure joy or connection that words simply can't capture
- When you look back and feel gratitude for how your life's path led you to a meaningful moment
- When you're pursuing a discipline or practice and need to remember its real purpose is focused attention, not the technique itself
- When you want to turn a private moment of devotion into shared, joyful singing with others
