Abhanga 4547
A shared experience of true protection can dissolve every distinction between people and leave a contentment so deep that ordinary wants quietly fall away.
The verse
लोकां कळों आला देव आम्हांमधीं । टाकिली उपाधि तिहीं शंका ॥१॥
शंका नाहीं थोरां लाहानां जीवांसि । कळला हा हृषीकेशी मग ॥२॥
मग मनीं जाले निर्भर सकळ । संगें लोकपाळ कृष्णाचिया ॥३॥
कृष्णाचिया ओंव्या गाणें गाती गीत । कृष्णमय चत्ति जालें त्यांचें ॥४॥
त्यांसि ठावा नाहीं बाहेरिल भाव । अंतरीं च वाव सुख जालें ॥६॥
सुखें तया दीस न कळे हे राती । अखंड या ज्योती गोविंदाची ॥६॥
चिंतनें चि धालीं न लगे अन्नपाणी । तुका म्हणे मनीं समाधान ॥७॥
Literal translation
Loka-knew-Deva-among-us — cast-aside-upādhi-3-śankās. No-doubt-large-small-jīva — Hrṣīkēśī-known-then. Mind-niṣbhara — with-lōka-pāḷas-Krṣṇa. Krṣṇa-ovis-gītas — Krṣṇa-maya-chitta. Outer-bhāva-not-known — antara-vāva-sukha. Days-not-known-from-nights — akhaṇḍa-Govinda-jyōti. Satisfied-chintana-no-food-water — Tukā: mana-samādhāna.
What it means
A 7-verse yamak-bandha — the Govardhana-aftermath. After-Govardhana-uddhāraṇa: the people know-Deva-is-among-us, cast-aside-upādhi-and-doubt. No-more-large-small-jīva-discrimination — radical-equality after-shared-shelter. The Krṣṇa-saturated-life that follows: (a) singing-Krṣṇa-ovis and-gītas, (b) Krṣṇa-maya-chitta, (c) outer-bhāva-not-known, antara-only-vāva-sukha, (d) days-and-nights-merge into-akhaṇḍa-Govinda-jyōti, (e) satisfied-by-chintana-don't-need-food-water — mana-samādhāna. The Govardhana-experience produces-mass-Krṣṇa-saturated-life. Pair with 4497 (Krṣṇa-everywhere refrain), 4546 (preceding finale).

Having lived through the mountain being held over them, the people now know without any doubt that the divine was truly among them, and every distinction between the great and the small among them falls away. Their minds settle into contentment, they sing songs about Krishna constantly, and their hearts become so full of him that outward appearances stop mattering, all that matters is the quiet joy inside. Days and nights blur into one steady light, and they are so satisfied by simply holding him in mind that food and water barely register. A shared experience of being truly cared for can leave a contentment so deep that ordinary wants and worldly divisions quietly fall away.
